Hello and welcome to the new look website for Renfrewshire Referees.  We hope you like the new design and features which include links to the SFA referees news and updates.  Please take a look round the page and send feedback to the secretary – stephen@smartin.co.uk.  One of the new functions is a member’s page.  You are required to register to gain access to this part of the site where you will be able to find report writing documents, minutes of the monthly meetings etc

Referees ‘whistle up’ £2000 for local charities

Renfrewshire Referee continued there support of local good causes following the success of the annual sportsman dinner. Cheques for £1000 were presented to Ward Sister Patricia Friel at the RAH Baby Unit (top photo) as well as to Margaret Rhoddan and the Flexicare team by President Barry Cook, Sponsorship & Charities Officer John Reid and Social Convener Gerry Reid. Guests were entertained by stories and anecdotes from ex FIFA and class one referee Kenny Clark before Scotland, St. Mirren, West Ham united and Celtic legend took the floor.

  • Airdrie United striker Derek Holmes is well versed in promotion campaigns as he has been through five successful ones and he is hoping to a add a sixth with the Diamonds by overcoming a one goal deficit to Dumbarton on Sunday.

  • Dumbarton’s bustling busy midfielder Kevin Nicoll has covered miles and miles on the pitches of the Second Division this season, however he has been travelling even further just to take part in the Sons promotion push via the Play-Offs.

  • Albion Rovers are looking to defy gravity for the first time in nearly 80 years by staying up in the Second Division by seeing off Stranraer at Cliftonhill on Sunday despite being two goals down.  The Coatbridge side are also hoping that their ‘Mr Consistent’, Alan Reid, will get over the sickness bug that saw him miss out in midweek and allow him to take his place in the second meeting.

  • Stranraer finished the regular 36 game season as the highest scorers in the three IRN-BRU Divisions of the SFL and they showed their eye for goal when they completed the job of getting to the Final of the Second Division Play-Off in fine style against Queen’s Park.
